Getting to Squamish
Welcome to Sea to Sky Country, where the ocean meets the mountains. Located halfway between downtown Vancouver and Whistler and easily accessible from Vancouver International Airport (YVR), Squamish is nestled at the end of one of Canada’s largest fjords. No matter how you get here, the journey is sure to be a beautiful one.
Driving Times and Distances
By car, the trip is a one-hour ride from Vancouver and just 1.5 hours from YVR, along one of the most scenic drives in the world. Highway 99 features amazing views of towering mountains, expansive glaciers, and Howe Sound, also referred to as Atl’ḵa7tsem in the Squamish Nation language. Cultural Journey look-out kiosks along the way showcase Indigenous stories and are well worth the stop.

- Whistler – 60km / 45 minutes
- Downtown Vancouver – 64km / 55 minutes
- Vancouver Airport (YVR) – 81km / 1 hour 20 minutes
- Seattle – 295km / 3 hours 45 minutes
Remember that road conditions can change quickly due to weather, especially during the fall and winter. If you plan to drive between October 1 and April 30, make sure you have winter tires and check Highway 99 road conditions and webcams.
